The Maté beverage made from this tree was discovered to benefit health, vitality and longevity. It has been used for centuries to boost immunity, cleanse and detoxify the blood, tone the nervous system, combat fatigue, stimulate the mind and control the appetite, promoting overall good health. In current practice in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, Maté tea is made from the leaves steeped in hot water. But Maté is much more than a very nourishing and refreshing beverage. It is a drink that has a long traditional use in South America. WHAT MAKES MATÉ SO GOOD?
Yerba Maté is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, including carotene, vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B- complex, riboflavin, nicotinic acid, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin C complex, magnesium, calcium, iron, sodium, potassium, manganese, silicon, phosphates, chlorophyll, choline, and inositol. In 1964, the Pasteur Institute did a study on the properties of Yerba Maté. Their conclusion was “it is difficult to find a plant in any area of the world equal to Maté in nutritional value. It has most all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life.”
We use only CERTIFIED Organic Maté, preserving the Brazilian forests where this Yerba Maté is organically grown.

In order to preserve as many fresh nutrients as possible as well as the bright green flavor of the herb we do not age our yerba mate like other mate companies do. Most yerba maté sold in Australia is aged for 1-2 years before being packaged, according to cultural traditions from Paraguay, Uraguay and Argentina. However, in Brazil, yerba maté is commonly preferred as fresh as possible. The Tribal Trading Company prefers this style, since it preserves the life-giving nutrients and the fresh green taste our customers love.
We have spent years perfecting the “art” of creating delicately delicious Yerba Maté. We have painstakingly learned the vast array of factors that control the final flavor and vibrance, in order to produce the best tasting, most nutritious yerba maté tea possible!
Processing our Yerba Maté immediately upon harvest, Tribal Trading maté is vacuum packed into triple barrier freshness sealed bags. Onced the process is completed, our mate is trucked to port in order to be shipped out immediately. We do this because we love fresh Yerba Maté!
